The U.S. Air Force at Wright Patterson Air Force Base selected Rockwell Collins to design, develop, manufacture and support
a new Weapon Systems Trainer (WST) for the Joint Surveillance Target Attack Radar System (JSTARS) E-8C Aircraft. It was Rockwell
Collins' second major delivery order under the Training Systems Acquisition-I (TSA) omnibus contract.
The E-8C WST program involves three distinct, yet integrated, work efforts, which includes: 1) the design, development and
fabrication of a new E-8C WST; 2) Contractor Logistics Support (CLS) for an existing E-8C Flight Training Device (FTD); 3)
and the establishment and sustainment of a Training System Support Center (TSSC) at Robins Air Force Base, Ga.
The E-8C WST incorporates the same advanced hardware and software simulation technologies currently used on Rockwell Collins'
FAA Level D Full Flight Simulators including wide field-of-view visual display, digital-electric flight control loading, and
electro-hydraulic 6 degree-of-freedom motion subsystem.
